The University of Basrah at the College of Medicine, holds a scientific symposium on the latest developments in diabetes treatment

The Department of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, in cooperation with Al-Faihaa Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology and Novo Nordisk Company, held a scientific symposium on the latest developments in diabetes treatment. The symposium was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Nawfal Ali Al-Mubarak, the President of the Basrah department of the Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Wissam Al-Radini, internal medicine specialists, the Association of Retired Doctors in the Basrah department of the Doctors Syndicate, and postgraduate students. The symposium included a discussion of the use of modern medications to treat type 2 diabetes, which aims to reduce the risk of death from this disease, especially complications of the disease on the heart and kidneys. In addition, a medical case was discussed by a team of diabetologists, endocrinologists, nephrologists, and cardiologists from the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, Department of Internal Medicine, headed by Assistant Professor Abdul Amir Abdul Bari Al-Amiri, Head of the Medicine Department. The scientific symposium recommended the need to encourage the use of modern drug treatments for diabetes, which have an impact on reducing the serious complications of the disease on the circulatory system and kidneys, and reducing deaths from this disease. In addition to providing the necessary tests for diabetes patients for the purpose of early detection and diagnosis of the disease and its complications, and providing the necessary medications for this purpose, in addition to raising awareness among the community and medical personnel about the dangers of this disease and the necessity of early detection and prevention, especially for patients with risk factors.
